However, like many fad diets the effectiveness of this diet has never really been proven, which is a prime reason for why it is still a fad. The problem with the Sacred Heart diet is that even though it might help you lose weight; most of it will be gained right back once you stop the diet. In reality, this diet is extremely difficult to sustain over long periods, which is why the weight gain is imminent.

The Sacred Heart diet is a 7-day program that everyone can follow, except for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding because of the possible side effects it can have to the health of the baby and the mother. Some doctors have actually related the Sacred Heart diet to be a great way to detoxify the body, as well as reducing the risk of diabetes and heart disease. However, it is advised that this diet be followed for long periods if the true results are to be experienced.

Day 4 should be started out with you having skimmed milk and bananas. The motive for today is to have as much milk as you can and at least 3 bananas, while still keeping the soup as the main course. Day 5 recommended that you have beef and tomatoes, the exact amount should be somewhere around 20 oz. of beef and 6 tomatoes. On the 6th day, unlimited amounts of beef and vegetables are bestowed upon you, so make the most of it. Try to have soup at least once in day 5 or 6. Moreover, on the last day, you are allowed to eat brown rice, vegetables and sugar free fruit juice, combined with a serving of soup. If you want to follow the Sacred Heart diet for longer than the 7 days, simply repeat the same schedule, after you have permission from a doctor.
